A Curious Redline by Altalamatox A Curious Redline by Altalamatox
A while ago ~Arhasen asked me if I wouldn't critique one of her paintings. I did a bit of redline for her because a picture's worth a thousand or about a trillion if you're me.

She did a very awesome thing just now and suggested I post this to dA for others to check out, which is really rather brave in my book! So a little feature for her lovely photography here, if you have a moment to spare for some lovely photography. :)

That is very helpful to look at and think of. I am mostly self taught so seeing something like this is a bit of a light bulb turning on.

IT CAME TRUE!!~!~

Just when you're about to write a fiction novel about something, it goes and becomes reality.

Technology these days leaves NOTHING to the imagination... lol

Not that this information will get me down completely from pursuing this story, but it kind of stole my thunder. XP

Haha!

Ah, but for the record, your fish is MUCH cooler. Is your little guy a cyborg fish or is he all machine?

He's a cyborg fish - his kind are a small wave of genetic experiments that a progressive group of scientists have displayed to the public eye. I should mention however, that these creatures are far from the latest in their scientific ventures...The true aim of this group is being researched in secret, and is far more questionable than creating cyborgs out of hybrid sea creatures. (insert evil laugh)

Now I need to actually start *writing* the story... XD

A great critique, which I find helpful even though my work is not in question. You pin point some simple yet effective ways concerning the way anatomy, lights and colours can be easily edited.

wow, her photography is amazing, I love the clouds. Her artwork is interesting, I never would have thought of a cyborg like fish. They'd make interesting characters

Yeek! Really? I'm glad you liked it... (was I supposed to see this comment...? lol)

I'm thinking that I have much better luck with photography than digital art like this picture -capturing subject matter is easier than creating it. XD

:iconaltalamatox: is so awesome for having done this for me! Her tips make SO MUCH SENSE! :D

^^ yes you should be able to read a person's comment on your work. How did you capture the clouds? it looks as though you just flew up there and took a picture, no flying machine needed ^^

I wanted to ask you about your picture's characters because it's such a strange concept...but I thought that would be a little rude just waltzing up and saying "hey I saw your work on some corrections your friend did for you, want to talk about them???"

Um...actually I did fly up there. I used a flying machine called a plane, and I had the window seat and I had my droid phone and that's the end of the story. Lucky for me the window was clean enough to see through. XD

Whaat? Ask away! I don't think it's rude...and I doubt any artist on here would say "No I do NOT want to talk about my characters/art, it's none of your business"... XD That seems like an oxymoron to me ... lol

Anyway, they are kind of a new set of characters. I have a few small notes tucked away somewhere, but I'm not sure how I want to use them yet. I am fiddling with a story idea that needs some world shaping, though. It had never occurred to me to use these characters... (0,0) hmmm, Worth thinking about...

Did you have a particular question(s)about the characters? They are still in development, but perhaps your thoughts will help me push through some of my own ideas. :)

lol, I know, it just doesn't look like you used a plane...Yeah, are you intending to use them in a comic? I'd just like to see and know more about them because the pic is so strange...like no one ever thought of the concept before, a cybernetic (cybornetic?) fish? How did he get like that? It sort of reminds me of Treasure planet ^^

I love treasure planet... :D

I think it's 'cybernetic'... but the basic idea is that a hybrid deep/mid sea fish has been altered for exloration and deep sea research purposes. However in the story, it's actually more of a publicity decoy for a group of scientists that have a more questionable experiment going on in secret. :D

oh, so you have a story planned? I cannot wait to see it! How will you portray it? a comic or in written form? The way you describe the fish makes me wonder if he'll be a character of the story or a visual tool for the audience to admire. The possibilites are limitless when the mind gets creative ^^

I have literally NOTHING but some notes jotted down for this story, most of which came to me after your first post. :D Also I would LOVE to make it a comic/graphic novel type, but I'm nowhere near the ability yet to start 'officially' drawing it. (Though the pictures in my mind so far are definitely worth practicing for!!! :D) I've got a lot on my plate in the 'real' world too, so hopefully I will have time to get some info posted. :D

AAAaaaaahhhh Thank you SO much for this!!! This is going to help me so much! I'm thinking I will reattempt that drawing AFTER I get a tablet... I AM tired of the mouse and fingerpad. (I used that for this picture too, when my mouse broke...LOL)

Thanks everyone for peeking at my gallery!!! It means a lot to me!!

Tox - I hope I haven't started a deluge of redline requests, but at the same time, I will be keeping a lookout for any more you might do! You definitely have a gift in this. ;)

I would love to see more of these, as it really helps to show where mistakes are made that're often hard for the original artist to spot. You're more than welcome to nab any of my work for it, even. Just.... more of this!

Even if I may not be the artist of the original work I still find the things you point out very useful actually. I would personally love to see more like this in the future. If you have the time of course :meow:

Can I say it was useful, even though I am not the one concerned? You have a great style, yet with a style comes knowledge - and I can't help but be in awe.
