But more importantly, I haven't been on dA in about two weeks. Just taking a breather. I sincerely hope no one's been holding their breath waiting for me to get back to them on anything but if you have, _{shit, and I suspect some of you have}, very sorry, I'll be getting caught up over this week.

Otherwise…

I actually had a very good time watching On Stranger Tides! As I'd suspected, probably because of copious amounts of Barbossa screen time. I also adore Barbossa and Jack on the same team, they kick serious ass back-to-back and it's obvious Rush and Depp have a total blast acting their characters back and forth. The overall plot was very sloppily constructed compared to the preceding films but the little things were as hilarious and charming as always. Mostly, I want to vomit up PotC fan art again, just as soon as…

I get all the Pokémon out of my system. We didn't have a Gameboy as kids so we played Pokémon in card game form and in our backyards squirting each other with hoses and… throwing mud and stuff. Anyways, I can legitimately say I've played one of the games now, Ruby, which my brother ~ManageTheFancy stole off a dying man in an alley.

But before that, I was doodling by the river when a round of Belegarth started up a field away. First I was like, hot daamn, a chance to lifedraw dudes in medieval garb battling! Then I remembered Belegarth mostly consists of a dozen guys standing around looking a little uneasy, chatting and very occasionally having a brief foam-sword skirmish.*

But then I saw something I'd never seen before: little kids showed up by the car load and you should have see this, they launched right into a seven-year-old berserker Ragnarök, they were squealing Lord of the Rings lines at each other (and occasionally… X-Men? it's the thought that counts) and it was great. Why am I telling this story… I guess it's a shame we grow up to trade an utterly unfettered imagination for self-consciousness. The guys my age had their cool costumes but the kids were plunging right into the fantasy. Hard to get that back when you grow up and leave the nursery. Either way, for some reason a liddle Benjamin came of these musings.

I did have a Gameboy when I was younger, but I still played Pokémon on the playground with my friends. Sometimes we were trainers, other times we were Pokémon

Well, it's true!

Exactly. I'd probably be more into cosplay, well, one, if I had friends into it, and two, god, everyone I'd ever seriously want to cosplay as are male and/or... not my build. I guess we've been here. XD There's something to cosplaying characters who actually kinda look anything like you to begin with, you know? Unless you're trying to be ironic and funny I suppose...

I have seriously considered switching out my pirate costume for a leprechaun. Which I would be all over if only I could do an Irish accent without making a fool of myself.

That and I can't sew. XD Do you do any costume design stuff?

You wouldn't believe how many people cosplay characters whom they don't look like, I for one cosplay several Chinese characters and I am most certainly not anywhere near oriental XD There's a constant debate over looking like the character you cosplay versus just going out and having fun. And while it's awesome to be told you look like your character, it's the fun that motivates you to do it in the first place. And crossplay's pretty popular too, so you wouldn't be out of place if you dressed up like a man. (I did that today in fact >_>)

But I think not having friends to cosplay with is what is the real downer for you, I got into cosplay /because/ of my friends, and it's being with friends that makes the experience amazing. But I still encourage at least trying it.

I don't do so many original designs, I don't often get the opportunity.. But I do cosplay quite frequently XD and I make all of my own costumes. I'm no where near perfect, but pretty decent when it comes to drafting and sewing. It's a great creative outlet and loads of fun.

aauugh fat wall of text is faaaat...
