BrainSpew the 70th by Altalamatox BrainSpew the 70th by Altalamatox
Bluurrgh, brain is muddled with meds, cannot make proper commentary. That's fine, this one's pretty self-explanatory.

Started doing my species doodles again but never got too far, so there's a few of 'em tossed in here for now. Pacific Barreleye: GOOGLE THAT SUCKER.

A number of my characters owe quite a lot to Glen Keane's rendition of Silver (Treasure Planet). Loved that guy as a kid, drew him alla time, left me with the useless ability to draw him pretty decently from memory.

Scary digital painting is scary. I'm trying, promise.

So, do Brogan and Marie run an orphanage for abandoned mix-and-match critters then? And... how exactly does the genetics of that work, anyway? O-= Or are genetics in this world a lot more malleable than they are in this world?

Aww, is Eric secretly a cuddle bug? ;) I wonder, do he and Cornelius eventually come to see each other as brothers, or is it entirely one-sided on Eric's part, and Cornelius just puts up with him for Penny's sake? XD

Brogan and Marie run a tailor shop for shapeshifters and other beings of complicated dimensions. It's a very friendly, very respectable place ostentatiously on a nice street where non-monsters pass it all the time and would be familiar and comfortable with it. Monsters in the Network (halfbreeds, mutations, any being not fitting a major race) are not exactly considered classy, or in places even publicly acceptable. So when 'normal' people find themselves, or someone they love, suddenly not so 'normal' anymore, the tailor's shop is often the only by-monsters for-monsters establishment they know of and feel comfortable slinking off to for help.

And help they'll get. The tailors are mostly a gateway to the monster world. They're a social hub where monsters meet up and support each other and get their pants patched after the last full moon. A new and confused monster could find compassionate counsel there, where they can be pointed on to people and places who can help. In the meantime, there's an inn nearby that always has a room open for the inevitable desperate visitors the tailors get on a monthly basis, who don't dare go home and need a place to stay.

Soooo, not an orphanage! But they've definitely had their share of abandoned kids dropped on their doorstep. They watch them for the night, then carry them on to an orphanage and hopefully the rest of their lives in the morning.

LONG-WINDED answer, sorry! XD

Yes. Genetics. Crazy things with genetics in the Network, yes. Not everything flies, but because of MAGIC, a lot of freaky things are allowed to happen.

Not so secretly! :D Eric loves snuggles quite so very much.

I don't know about brothers, since both guys had brothers who are not living these days and the 'brother' position in their minds is reserved for their lost loved ones. But. Family? Sure. Actually, Cornelius warms up considerably to Eric much later on, as he comes to appreciate Eric for his 'hidden' trait of wisdom and for his many parallels to himself so far as being a rich guy who finds himself a monster and has to get used to the idea. Let's say, Cornelius gets along much better with Eric than with Penny. Eric is a lot more stable.

(Late replies are so late, I'm so sorry! :crying:)

Interesting! It's really kind of them to do something like that for folk, too; makes me like them both that much more. X3 Does this kind of thing happen a lot, then? People getting suddenly turned into freaks of nature and having to acclimate to another way of life?

NEVER apologize for long-winded answers, dear. XD I love it when people ramble. Truly.

That so? 83 *sneaks off to go into hiding to tackleglomp him*

Awww. :iconmonkeyloveplz: That's sweet. And heh, that makes a lot of sense. XD I suppose Eric is a stabilizer for Penny, too, when you get right down to it. Keeps her relatively grounded while still allowing her to have plenty of fun. =D

I for one enjoy your brain's gastrointestinal upheavals. I think I may be able to use that parrot thing at the top as inspiration for something.

As for the pacific barreleye, you did manage to make it strangely disturbing, despite its non-threateningly cartoony depiction. I first saw it in a video on Youtube. I didn't find it creepy, so much as....... curious. :O_o:
