Hey guys! I haff brought to you another fresh steaming pile of spew made with real love and care and puppy entrails.

It's finals time here and I'm actually quite busy of the 'shouldn't even be here right now' sort so as much as I'm sure you'll lament not getting my usual tl;dr, I'm gonna drop this load and take off.

Cheers, and good luck to anyone else battling the end-of-semester monsters!

Is Cornelius a good person? Halfway decent?

Oh, yeah, I'd say so. He's riddled with flaws but he's certainly not a villain.

Well, that just means Nathaniel would add a lot more emotional power to your work. Maybe you should risk talking about him more. I'm sure you could resist bringing him back to life. After all, you would have plenty of time to stop yourself if you start to do it. Making a character people would wish was still alive but wasn't would really strengthen your premise. It's stuff like that, things that make your audience feel strongly about something, which keeps them coming back for more.

Oh, and it helps that you're a good artist.

You definitely need to color Thomas in Cornelius' clothing!
(That much color might kill the man though...)

Jumpin' with a pum'kin.

I have brain spews, though I call them art blobs. I aspire to get mine up to your bar of quality. I know that probably sounds silly given it's a brain spew, but I'm just sayin'.

Oh man I know how you feel about Nathaniel. Good job not delving too deep into his character, because I made that mistake with one of the characters I've written about and now am regretting the fact that I'm planning to have him killed.

I just fell in love with that cute little owl the first time I saw it. I don't know why,lol.

For the notes on Charles, I can read your writing, but it would help if it wasn't so small,lol >_<

That trapped in a little box thing is so funny. I'm sure he wasn't too thrilled about it, though.

That reverse gryphon thing looks pretty neat to me :D

That panda chewing on the bamboo looks so depressed,lol. Cheer up, panda, tomorrow is Christmas! lol

Look, it's Banjo and Kazooie! (I think that's how you spell it,lol) I almost didn't catch it since it's in a different style,lol.

Your unicorns look awesome :heart:

would u please tell me how you do the layout for your brainspews ?
like how do you make it this tall and how you make these heads and footers ???
Reply
:iconaltalamatox:
Altalamatox Featured By Owner Dec 8, 2011
Sure! Like you said, I scan all my drawings then cut them out and drop them into a Photoshop file together on a white background. I set the scan layers all to 'Multiply' so they don't overlap one another. For the canvas, if you're using Photoshop you just go into 'Canvas Size' and type in a size that's tall and narrow.

The headers/footers are a colored bar with a gradient and an image of a splat layered on top under text with some layer effects applied. Really, I just mess around with layer effects and colors until I like what I see.

; ^; Howwww. How do you do this. How long have you been drawing as a professional? (as in how long have you been taking your art seriously instead of just doodling now and then?)
I would love to know. (That way I don't feel so bad about being such a poor artist when I'm only two years younger.

Shucks, thank you! I've been doodling my whole life but got all fired up to be a Disney animator when I was about thirteen and started making an effort to improve. I've drawn something nearly every day since then, I have this stack of all my saved drawings in my room that's like three feet tall.

(Don't feel bad, I've pretty much exchanged any semblance of a social life or life in general for this. XD)

Oooh, well there's my problem. (I was wondering how far ahead of me you were) and I see where my issue lies. Even though I am really inspired to do something with animation, well, I hardly actually draw. I really need to get in the practice of forcing myself to draw.
I only started taking my work seriously at about sixteenish and I just turned nineteen.;; so while I've been doing it for four years, you've been doing it for eight xD I feel a tad better now ;v;

And your art just. Just. Gah. <33 -spreads love all over it- I can't get over how well you draw eyes, expressions, hair, and clothing. Actually, everything. Hnnng. You could totally be a Disney animator. :'I
And, this may be totally out of line, but I'll say it anyway. I noticed I don't see too much human feet (TONS of animal paws, which I am also jealous of) in your drawings. You might practice these on the side, but through all your amazing work, that's the only thing that kinda rose a red flag for me. All the feet you do draw though are fantastic. ; u;
Anyway, I'll stop spamming you with this ridiculously long message xD Keep it up, and I cannot /wait/ to see more from you. ;v;

Especially ones like this that are chock full of Cornelius! : D

I can completely understand not wanting to draw your poor deceased brain baby too much. Letting go of characters and allowing them to die can be far too hard. OTL

I am very glad to hear that, thank you! I feel like I need to push all shapes significantly further than I have so far but I do feel like it's getting easier to do, like I'm loosening up a bit.

One of these days I, well, I will probably drink quite a lot first, but I will sit down and redraw everybody 'very cartoony,' which by my definition of cartoony should put them all just about on the point of finally being interesting to look at and maybe it will stick.

YOU HUG THAT TURTLE DRAGON.

I've no idea what scale he is so you'll have to decide if you want to give him teddybear snuggles or dangle off his neck. Either way he's too slow to get away from you. I bet he can't even breathe fire, probably just coughs ash or somethin'.
