The spamming continues!

La-dee-da... what happens in this one? The flake/snamingo asks his parents an awkward question. Tara does terrible things to Eric while he's napping. Morgan, who can and does get sick but not in the conventional way, has soup. Vra'kriss dies. And there are two commissions and a request for ~Larlia-Nexus111, *TsengEclipse, and *lynxdaemonskye. (:

School next week, nooooooooo. D:

Could Morgan survive a fall like that?  I mean, unless he wants to, Morgan doesn't really have bones to break or internal organs to rupture, does he?  Although I can't imagine having your formless mass splattered across the ground being very pleasant.

By the way, is there any way you can elaborate on Morgan and Magda's meeting?  How exactly did Magda "accidentally thrash" Morgan?  What was their first conversation like?  Write about it, I'm sure we'd all like to hear.

Wait, I just realized something.  Does Morgan have something similar to internal organs in blob form?  If not, how would he eat - and digest - soup?  Why would he eat soup?

In a human body? Naw, dead on impact like anyone else. If he unshifted at the last moment he would indeed be splattered into a fine mist, and there's no surviving that. At the moment I'm tentatively holding that slime Morgan can't have more than 50% of his matter permanently separated from his main mass without kicking it. He can get totally pureed, but if he's able to pull at least half himself together again within a minute or two he'll be alright. (Well, not really, but passably alive.)

Nope, Morgan's got no guts! Morgan was first transformed from human to shapeshifting blob when some nasty spellwork commanded her body to consume itself from the inside. Slime Morgan is still mostly Morgan's original body... magically digested and reanimated as nine gallons of human smoothie, really. As pleasant as that sounds. And whatever his shape, Morgan's body has been consuming itself on a magical level ever since, like a waterwheel feeding itself, generating the stupid amounts of power that allow him to change shape and size at will. His slime self is the only form where this cycle enters into the physical world, as it's still consuming itself inside. If you saw slime Morgan IRL he'd look like a giant raw sausage tube with dark bloody goo slowly churning inside. If he envelops something, amoeba-like, into this magically corrosive mix it'll be broken down. (Foreign material is distinct from his original, corrupted matter, which is constantly creating itself anew from itself. Foreign material is burned as calories.) And that, in a very long-winded way, is how slime Morgan eats.

The cycle is not a perfect motion machine, however, and he does lose energy and need a magical boost now and then, especially if he's been over-doing the shapeshifting. Back in the physical world, while his slime self's autocannibalism seems to function to allow him movement and a very unnatural surrogate semblance to biology (touch, sight, speech), it does not give him new energy, and that's why he needs to eat soup. (:

His digestion is slow and queasily visible, so it's just another of the maaany reasons he avoids using this shape. He's ill here with some magical malady, the only kind he's subject to, and unshifting for a few days is one of the few things that helps recovery. (Or rather, not shapeshifting and releasing massive amounts of energy and feeding the supernatural bug. Drown a fever, starve a curse. ;) )

I've talked more than enough at you now, so maybe Morgan and Magda can tell you their story themselves... Third conversation down. :)

Are there creatures in the Network that could survive a fall like that?  I bet there are creatures in real life who could, or at least survive a fall from a great height (it'd probably be a bug though; tough little buggers).

Also, what if Morgan lost a limb in one of his/her/its forms, and how would that translate to the blob form?  Would he suddenly be slightly smaller, or have less mass?  Could he recover that mass through cell division or something, or does he have to keep careful track of what he's got?

By the way, your writings are awesome as always.  I am tentatively saying that your comments and writings are my favorite of your works.

Actually, there is a group that could possibly survive skydiving without a parachute. And you're not far off with your bug comment, in a way. They're the lurigadaun, tiny size-shifting folk and short-range teleporters. In a big world, the teleporting is invaluable for getting around and surviving inevitable plummets, 'porting at the last moment and turning a screaming fall into a light drop. If that's not cheating. ;) I don't think there's anything that would survive impact. My first thought was Vlad or Charles, but come to think of it they're already dead so they don't count.

You know, he'd better either be able to recover mass or not lose his core mass by normal means, or he'd be so totally dead by now. I've never been certain how it works. (Wot, Tox doesn't have an answer for something? Snowflakes in hell! Laying out the law for Morgan's biology or lack thereof challenges my little peanut brain.)

Aah, so much love, thank you! :glomp: They are secretly my favorite as well.

IDK which spazzed me out more, the awesome orc woman on the bottom page (who isn't wearing a bra and panties all the while calling it armour) or the T-rex getting jiggy with it on top.
